You will be joining at an exciting time as the Palo Alto Museum will be opening in its restored historic building in 2025. This is a startup museum in the startup capital of the world, where the early pioneer spirit of courage and entrepreneurship led to the founding of a global university and the birthplace of Silicon Valley.

Our Museum will be a testament to the people whose vision, values and imagination fostered a diverse and dynamic community and shaped the modern world. You will have the opportunity to lead a museum like no other – using creative thinking and design, to reach out, telling our story through programs and events.

Role

The Palo Alto Museum seeks a dynamic, creative and experienced leader with excellent interpersonal, leadership and fundraising skills for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director will have overall responsibility for getting the museum up and running, will posses a strong public-facing presence in the community and demonstrate convincing communication ability.

Qualifications

• Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Community Engagement skills
• Experience in managing museum staff, fostering partnerships and working with a board
• Fundraising and Budget Management skills
• Building a funding base is a top priority
• Familiarity with best practice standards and accreditation requirements for museums in our category
• Experience with Museum Planning and Exhibitions
• Strong strategic planning and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field
