What's the Short Version?

The Manager, Product Safety is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to SanMar's Product Safety team who ensures company's product safety programs are adhered to. This includes leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable US regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for leading the development and execution of cross-functional efforts to communicate Company's compliance policies. The Manager, Product Safety represents SanMar to industry associations and other external audiences.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Responsible for the design, development, and enforcement of SanMar's product safety program ensuring alignment with Company's values and vision.
  • Development of product safety team to include expectations, coaching, cross training, goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Oversee and lead the daily operations for product safety including direct reports daily workload and projects.
  • Drive continued improvement of SanMar's Product Safety program to ensure continued efficiencies during growth and regulatory change.
  • Stay abreast of US product safety regulations as well as global standards; provide updates to management of new developments and potential risks/liabilities.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of product safety, procedures, work instructions, and manuals compliant with product safety regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee product safety activities, maintenance of standard operating procedures and identify opportunities to increase compliance and efficiency.
  • Determination of product safety testing and labeling requirements.
  • Manage product registration with local government agencies.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects relating to product safety compliance.
  • Responsible for new market and global product safety compliance requirements research.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration, including with peers, and industry associations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

What Are We Looking For?
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7-9 years experience in product safety compliance; experience in apparel industry a plus.
  • 4-6 years leadership capacity with demonstrated professionalism, creativity and vision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, report generation and internet research.
  • Advanced knowledge of product safety and labeling regulations and related voluntary standards.
  • Ability to accurately understand and interpret government regulations.
  • Ethical dedication to keeping organization trade practices and sensitive information confidential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task varied projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; accepts accountability and responsibility for actions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% annually.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that considers global reach and impact.
  • Critical thinker; must be proactive in recognizing and adjusting to shifting priorities with the ability to anticipate problems, recommend solutions and implement them.

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $105,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience.

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary.

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 152 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

Hybrid: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.

SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
