Job Description

Indian Creek School is an independent, co-ed day school in which 587 students aged 3 to Grade 12 partner with innovative teachers in an outstanding educational program. Located on a beautiful, 114-acre campus in Crownsville, Maryland (just north of Annapolis), ICS students are nurtured and known as individuals while being challenged to discover their passions, purpose, and potential. This is a full-time (40 hours), 10-month position with occasional summer responsibilities, reporting to the Lower School Principal. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the physical education curriculum for grades pre-kindergarten to Grade 5.
  • Use pedagogical best practices and learning standards to promote well-being, health, and physical fitness.
  • Create a positive and safe classroom culture and community utilizing best practices in social-emotional learning and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the Lower School Team. 
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Supervise students throughout the day as assigned, including lunch and recess.
  • Work with the Lower School Principal to ensure high-quality education and the most engaging experience for students.
  • Actively participate in a professional learning community, including reading and being familiar with relevant professional literature and research, participating in peer coaching, reflection meetings, planning meetings, and staff meetings.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Master’s preferred) 
  • Demonstrated experience in elementary physical education 
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in classroom management in a physical education classroom
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other faculty members
  • Demonstrated commitment to belonging, well-being, and inclusive pedagogy
  • Educational philosophy which aligns with the mission and vision of Indian Creek School 

Benefits

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience at an educational institution and prior administrative experience and responsibilities. Candidates will be offered a competitive salary and are exempt from overtime within the range of $55,000 - $95,000, dependent on experience.

In addition to the annual salary, Indian Creek School offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as life insurance, critical illness and accident coverage, and both short- and long-term disability for the employee and their eligible dependents. We offer a 403 (b) retirement plan with employer match to help you plan for the future. PTO includes vacation, sick, holiday, and parental/family leave.
