We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to join our North Haven, CT, facility. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Medtronic’s mission to reduce environmental impacts, maintain the safety of our employees, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The EHS Specialist will help foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across the site. Key Responsibilities include ensuring environmental compliance for a manufacturing site; evaluating new construction projects, new processes, process changes, etc. and determining the regulatory impact including the need for permit changes; implementing applicable regulations and company requirements; reviewing and analyzing environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies and proposed regulations to determine applicability and impact to the site; interacting with site management to ensure compliance to requirements, resolve compliance issues and implement environmental programs; ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken where environmental incidents occur or hazards exist; working with cross functional teams to investigate environmental incidents and ensuring corrective/preventative actions are implemented; leading site Environmental Action Group (EAG) that monitors pollution prevention activities and supports efforts to reduce environmental impact; providing/promoting employee awareness/training on matters of environmental regulatory and company requirements; managing hazardous waste compliance at a Large Quantity Generator (LQG) with support from 3rd party contractor; collecting regulatory data from environmental monitoring systems and utilizing the data to generate regulatory reports such as Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs), Bi-ennial Hazardous Waste, Sterilizer NESHAP, Tier II, TRI, and monthly/annual air emissions; managing Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and follow-up corrective/preventative actions; collecting and compiling site waste data for company sustainability reporting; wastewater and waste sampling and analyzing sample results; stormwater sampling and completing Stormwater Monitoring Reports (SMR). Must Have: Bachelor’s degree AND a minimum of 2 years related experience OR Advanced degree with 0 years of experience. Preferred Qualifications include knowledge of EPA and CT DEEP regulatory agencies' requirements; strong understanding of EHS regulations, best practices, and risk management strategies; excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in AutoCad, GIS and PowerBi is a plus; certification in EHS (e.g., CHMM or similar certifications); experience with environmental management systems (EMS); experience with incident investigation tools and methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis); previous experience in the medical device or healthcare industry.
