Summary: The Behavior Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing positive behavior support plans (PBSPs) for individuals served. The specialist works closely with individuals, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure that behavioral interventions are effective, ethical, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Compliance/HIPAA: While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas. Employee has access to protected health information of the individuals directly served in Easterseals programs in which employee is engaged, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.
Qualifications:
Supervision: No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree required, master's degree preferred in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field. Certified Positive Behavior Support Specialist or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly in the development and implementation of behavior support plans; preference given for additional years of experience.
Core Competencies:
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must maintain Positive Behavior Support Specialist Certification or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) license, if applicable. Valid Arkansas Driver's License.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to lift and transfer individuals according to weight guidelines for lifting.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
